Sexual and Gender Minority Emerging Adults Eliciting Narratives

A study of artmaking’s impact on the mental health of young LGBTQ+ adults of color

What is SEEN?

Sexual and gender minority Emerging adults Eliciting Narratives (SEEN) is a study led by Jennifer Tran, PhD, at University of Pennsylvania's School of Nursing, testing the feasibility of a creative narrative intervention for LGBTQ+ emerging adults of color experiencing mental health issues.

We asked the question: Can telling your story through creative mediums impact mental health outcomes?

19 participants from across the United States created photos and videos expressing themselves about times they have felt seen and unseen as LGBTQ+ people of color.
